Bulk Cellophane Sheets — Food-Safe Cello Wrap

Cellophane sheets — also called cello wrap or cello sheets — are transparent, heat-sealable films used to wrap food and gifts. Bakeries use them for cookies, muffins, croissants and brownies; delis and sandwich shops use them to keep sandwiches fresh while still showing the contents; candy stores wrap chocolates, caramel apples and hard candies; cheese shops wrap artisan cheeses and charcuterie; and gift businesses use them for baskets and party favors.

Yes — our cellophane sheets are FDA-compliant for direct food contact, so they are safe for wrapping sandwiches, baked goods and candies. Food-grade cellophane is non-toxic, moisture-resistant to keep food fresh, and heat-sealable for secure, tamper-evident packaging. Always verify that cellophane is labeled "food safe" or "FDA-approved" before using it for food packaging.

No — cellophane is food-safe for wrapping but is not edible and should not be consumed. Traditional cellophane is made from cellulose, a plant-based material, but it is processed into a film meant for packaging rather than eating. Always remove cellophane before consuming food.

The best cellophane sheets for food packaging are FDA-approved for direct food contact, heat-sealable so you can create a secure closure, crystal-clear so customers can see the product inside, and moisture-resistant so food does not dry out. Our cellophane sheets meet all four criteria, which makes them well suited to bakeries, delis, candy shops and other professional food businesses.

Cellophane is made from cellulose, a plant-based material, so it is biodegradable and has a slightly crinkly texture, while BOPP (biaxially oriented polypropylene) is plastic-based, more durable, and usually clearer and stiffer. Both are food-safe and heat-sealable, and many businesses use the two terms interchangeably; BOPP is more common in modern packaging because of its durability and clarity.

Cut the sheet to size with scissors or a cutter, place the food in the center and fold the edges over, then heat-seal the edges with an impulse sealer or heat gun. Add a sticker, ribbon or label afterward if you want a finished, branded retail look.

Buying cellophane wrap in bulk lowers your cost per sheet through wholesale case pricing, keeps you stocked through busy seasons so you never run out, and ships fast to keep operations running smoothly. Custom-cut sheet sizes are also available on request.
