Common Uses for 14-16 Inch Corrugated Boxes
Medium-sized corrugated boxes in the 14-16 inch length range are workhorses for diverse shipping and storage needs:
- Ecommerce Fulfillment: Perfect for clothing bundles, small electronics, kitchenware, and multi-item orders
- Retail Packaging: Ideal for gift sets, seasonal merchandise displays, and point-of-sale packaging
- Moving & Storage: Convenient size for books, documents, small appliances, and household items
- Manufacturing: Component packaging, work-in-progress storage, and parts distribution
Choosing the Right Box Size
When selecting a corrugated box, consider all three dimensions (length x width x height) to ensure proper fit:
- 14" boxes: Compact option for smaller items, reduces dimensional weight charges
- 15" boxes: Versatile middle ground for mixed inventory
- 16" boxes: Maximum capacity in this range, still manageable for one-person handling
Pro tip: Leave 1-2 inches of clearance around your product for cushioning material to prevent shipping damage.
Box Strength & Board Grades
Corrugated boxes are rated by Edge Crush Test (ECT) or Mullen Test values:
- 32 ECT (200# test): Standard duty for items up to 65 lbs, suitable for most shipments
- 44 ECT (275# test): Heavy duty for items 65-95 lbs or fragile products needing extra protection
- 48 ECT+: Double-wall construction for industrial applications over 95 lbs

Frequently Asked Questions
What size corrugated box is a 14-16 inch box?A 14-16 inch corrugated box is one whose longest dimension (the length) measures 14, 15, or 16 inches, such as 14x10x8, 15x11x6, or 16x12x8. Box sizes are always listed as length x width x height, and all dimensions refer to the interior of the box, so measure your product plus 1-2 inches of cushioning clearance when choosing a size. What's the difference between 14x10x8 and 16x12x8 boxes? The first number (14" vs 16") is the length, which affects interior volume and shipping costs. A 16x12x8 box holds roughly 30% more volume than a 14x10x8 box, so choose based on your largest product dimension plus space for cushioning material. What does 32 ECT mean on a corrugated box?32 ECT means the board passed an Edge Crush Test rating equivalent to 200# Mullen test and is rated for contents up to 65 lbs, which covers most standard shipments. Step up to 44 ECT (275# test) for 65-95 lb loads or fragile goods, and to 48 ECT or double-wall board for industrial loads over 95 lbs. Are these corrugated boxes recyclable?Yes. All of our corrugated boxes are made from recyclable kraft paper and can be recycled curbside, and many contain post-consumer recycled content as well. Can I print my logo on these boxes?Standard stock boxes are unprinted, in either kraft or white. For custom-printed boxes, contact our sales team at 570-709-0366 for minimum order quantities and pricing. How quickly will my box order ship?In-stock items ship the same day when ordered by 2 PM EST, and most orders arrive within 3-5 business days via ground freight. Related Packaging Supplies
