3 Mil Low Density Poly Tubing Rolls

3 mil poly tubing is used to make custom-length bags on demand when a standard stock bag size won't fit the product. It is open on both ends, so you cut it to length and seal it — common uses are bulk foods, baked goods, produce and candy; retail items like toys, hardware and textiles; long or odd-shaped industrial parts such as fasteners, trim and replacement components; e-commerce protective wrapping; and work-in-progress protection on the plant floor.

Measure the product and add 3 to 4 inches for the seals, cut the tubing to that length with scissors or a cutting bar, insert the product, then close one or both ends with a heat sealer, tape or staples. Because tubing ships open on both ends, one roll replaces many stock bag sizes and cuts material waste on non-standard products.

Yes — this tubing is made from 100% virgin low density polyethylene (LDPE) resin that meets FDA requirements for direct food contact. It is used for dry goods like grains, pasta, snacks and candy, for baked goods, for produce where ventilation is provided, and for frozen foods, since LDPE stays flexible at freezer temperatures. Follow your local health department rules for your specific application.

Choose 3 mil when the contents weigh roughly 2 to 10 lbs, have sharp edges or corners, will be shipped or stored long term, or need a stronger moisture barrier. Choose 2 mil for lightweight items under about 2 lbs where cost per foot and maximum flexibility matter more than puncture resistance. Step up to 4 mil or 6 mil for heavy, abrasive or sharp-edged parts.

Use an impulse or constant-heat sealer set to roughly 275–325°F, depending on the sealer model. Lay the cut end flat between the jaws, press for 2 to 3 seconds on an impulse sealer (or hold until the film melts on a constant-heat unit), then let the seal cool about 5 seconds before handling. For heavier contents, run two parallel seals about 1/4" apart.

Widths run from 2" to 72", so the tubing covers everything from small parts to large or long items. Rolls are 12" in outside diameter on 3" cores that fit standard dispensers, and carry 1,000+ linear feet depending on width. The film is clear for product visibility, and one side is corona treated so it will accept printing ink.
