Clear Low Density Poly Tubing

Poly tubing is a continuous, open-ended tube of clear low density polyethylene (LDPE) film supplied on a roll, so you cut it to whatever length you need and heat-seal one or both ends to create a custom-size bag. Yes. All of our clear low density poly tubing is made from 100% virgin polyethylene resin and meets FDA requirements for direct food contact under 21 CFR 177.1520, so it is safe for produce, baked goods, bread, candy, dry goods such as nuts, grains and pasta, and frozen items. It is not intended for microwaving or high-temperature cooking.

Use 1.25 to 1.5 mil for lightweight items, inner packaging and most food products; 2 mil is the most common all-purpose gauge for parts, hardware and produce; 3 and 4 mil handle heavier items and sharp edges; and 6 mil is the maximum-strength choice for construction materials and heavy or abrasive parts. Thicker film costs more per foot but resists punctures and tearing better.

Cut a piece from the roll allowing 2 to 4 extra inches for the seals, heat-seal one end with an impulse sealer to form the bottom, insert your product, then heat-seal the open end. For temporary or non-sealed closures you can staple, tape, or use a twist tie or bag tape instead of heat sealing.

Both are made from the same LDPE film, but poly tubing is open at both ends and cut to length on demand, so a single roll replaces many bag sizes and is ideal for long or odd-shaped products with varying dimensions. Pre-made poly bags are faster to fill for standard, repeating sizes and are available with reclosable zipper closures, which tubing does not have.

Service temperature range is -40°F to 180°F, and the material is RoHS and Prop 65 compliant.
